In 2006, a group of Southern California’s real estate innovators joined forces to create a new, better breed of brokerage. Today, that brokerage is known as Surterre Properties, one of the region’s most prominent luxury residential firms with three offices located in Dana Point, Laguna Beach, and Newport Beach. Featuring more than 230 agents and 30 staff members, Surterre Properties serves clients everywhere from Los Angeles down the coast to Orange County to the sunny desert cities including Palm Springs, Palm Desert, and La Quinta.
Gary Legrand, Surterre’s founder, intentionally designed the company to best serve clients and agents through a true team approach that — unlike other brokerages — encourages collaboration and the sharing of information. In fact, it is estimated that Surterre conducts more in-house transactions than any other firm in the market at 30%. As a result, Surterre agents expedite the home buying and selling process for their clients, giving them access to off-market properties and achieving best-in-market pricing. To date, Surterre Properties has achieved over $28.5 billion in sales and helped countless people find the perfect place to call home.

A fixture in Southern California’s luxury real estate market for more than 30 years, Gary Legrand has led the industry to new levels of innovation, service, and success. In launching Surterre Properties, which he co-founded in 2006, Gary introduced Orange County to a new standard in the way of outstanding real estate service — one that’s upheld by a team of more than 250 top-performing professionals.

Gary saw a void that needed to be filled in the industry, which was a high-caliber brokerage that could provide unparalleled customer service by making the client the priority and closing the transaction secondarily. His goal was to help Surterre’s agents by offering the highest quality of assistance, creating a smoother process and elevating their contributions through cutting-edge technology.

Before launching Surterre Properties, Legrand led teams at many of the region's most successful real estate firms, including Coldwell Banker Previews, which was ranked the #1 office in the nation. A longtime Newport Beach resident, he was also an investor and CFO for Coast Newport Properties.
As an extension of his service to his community, Gary assists college kids, teaching them how to interview to land their dream job. When Gary isn't working, you will find him air chairing, paddle boarding, and mountain biking.
