This Year's Hottest Home Remodeling Trends

Wednesday, March 25th, 2015 210 Views, 0 Comments.

Surterre Properties Home Trends

At Design & Construction Week, an annual event held in Las Vegas, attendance was up considerably over last year, making two things very apparent: one, the housing market is doing great; two, everyone is eager for a new crop of living innovations. If you’re thinking of buying a new home this year, or simply remodeling the one you’re currently in, here are the latest and greatest trends of 2015, courtesy of consumerreports.org.

1. HANDLES OFF

Manufacturers are making more and more appliances that are free of handles and pulls. Case in point? Miele’s “Knock2Open” technology, which enables its newest family of dishwashers to be opened, aptly, by knocking twice. What do fewer handles and pulls mean? For the most part, a sleeker, more…

Laguna Beach Named 3rd Coolest Town In US

Tuesday, March 24th, 2015 156 Views, 0 Comments.

Surterre Properties Laguna Beach

To the surprise of nobody at Surterre’s offices, Laguna Beach has been ranked by Matador Network as one of “The 20 Coolest Towns in the US.”

“This little village, which began as an artist colony and retreat for Hollywood celebs in the 1920s and 30s, has become one of the top destinations in Southern California,” the article points out. “Yet despite its popularity, Laguna has retained a lot of its bohemian coolness.” Nicely put.

According to the Matador, some of Laguna’s must-try attractions include a morning surf session at Brooks Street, breakfast at Banzai Bowls, drinks at The Sandpiper, and of course the very events that define summertime around these parts—The Sawdust Festival and the Pageant of the Masters. Fair enough, but what…

Surterre's Latest eWaste Event Spares Landfills From 4,500 Pounds…

Friday, March 20th, 2015 196 Views, 0 Comments.

Surterre Properties Newport Beach eWaste Event

On February 7, the parking lot at Surterre’s Newport Beach Headquarters was home to one of our famous eWaste events—and the turnout was one of the best to-date.

Clunky relics brought to the drive included three vacuum cleaners, a microwave, a juicer, and 25 laptops. Items of this nature, as you’re undoubtedly aware, don’t last forever in your home—but, flung in a landfill, they’re destined to linger and cause irreversible damage to the planet, which is the main reason we hold these quarterly events. The proper disposal of these items shouldn’t be a mystery, nor should it be difficult.

And at our eWaste events, it’s neither.

Surterre’s eWaste drives are completely free, not to mention easy. (Simply load your undesirable…

3. There’s live music, which, along with the gorgeous backdrop of the park, makes for a much better ambiance than the canned tunes at the local supermarket.
