Homes are flying off the market. The housing inventory is running on empty. The foreclosure and distressed/short sale inventory is at a low not seen since they started flooding the market back in 2007.
The last time demand was this hot in the month of March, it was the tail end of the housing bubble, 2005.

Summer ended hot for Newport Beach real estate. 69 residences sold in Newport area vs. 56 deals closed in the matching period a year ago – a 23.2 percent increase compared to countywide, which was down 0.6 percent. Laguna Beach sales were up 3.2 percent vs. a year ago.

Orange County home sales rose 9.5% above a year ago, as selling prices fell to a five-month low. According to DataQuick, 2,780 homes were sold in August, which was the second busiest month since many of the tax incentives for buyers ended for deals closed by June 2010.
